About Us

President – Billie Beasley

Billie is the founder and Executive Director of Journey Home, TX. Billie founded Journey Home because she recognized the need to offer a safe place for women facing crisis pregnancies. When she was a young, single woman, Billie became pregnant. She lost her job, and having no income, she had no place to stay. Forced to return to an abusive relationship, Billie also had to set aside her dream to attend college. As a result, God placed a desire in her heart to create a nurturing place for both mother and child offering love, accountability and support along their journey.

Billie’s personal experience and prior ministry service prepared her for this mission. She and her husband, Bob, have five children, 11 grandchildren and have fostered over 20 children. Billie has also volunteered in a juvenile detention center and managed a pregnancy center thrift-store, where she had the opportunity to share the Gospel and the love of Christ with store patrons and volunteers.

Treasurer – Chris North

Chris earned an Accounting degree from the University of Iowa and an MBA Finance degree from Houston Baptist University. During his 40-year finance career, he worked primarily for two Oil & Gas Companies, Hydril and Tenaris. Chris held Controller and CFO roles with both of these companies. Since retirement in 2016, He has worked with Journey Home for over five years in the finance area and currently as the Treasurer. Chris also serves as a Board Member and Treasurer for the Montgomery County Community Foundation.  

Chris is married to his high school sweetheart, Debbie, and they have three children and eight grandchildren. Chris and Debbie attend WoodsEdge Church and are involved in several ministries.

Secretary – Teri McGiffert

Teri has worked and volunteered in women’s Bible studies, children’s ministries, and several pro-life ministries since 1990, including directing a pregnancy medical clinic for seven years. She has volunteered with Journey Home since its founding and joined the Board in 2022.

Teri has been married to Ben since 1976, is a mother of two married daughters and grandmother to five. She is active in several ministries of WoodsEdge Community Church, enjoys reading and gardening, and is serious about prayer and studying God’s Word.

Board Member – Aaron Carlson

Aaron currently serves as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Ovintiv Inc. He worked in private practice before joining Noble Energy, Inc. in 2003 where he served in numerous legal and commercial roles including: Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary; Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Secretary; Vice President of Land, Marketing and Production Reporting; and Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Noble Midstream Partners. Aaron served in Chevron Corporations’s Legal Department from October of 2020 through December of 2021 after Chevron’s acquisition of Noble Energy.

Aaron, his wife, Lisa, and their two sons have lived in The Woodlands since 2004, and attend The Woodlands Methodist Church.

Board Member – Jim Chastain

Jim earned his B.A. in Chemistry and M.S. in Physical Sciences from the University of Missouri, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology & Therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. During his 35 years in the pharmaceutical industry, with 25 years dedicated to ophthalmic drug development, Jim held senior/executive scientific leadership roles at primarily Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (Cambridge, MA) and Alcon (Fort Worth, TX) where he contributed to the development of multiple drug treatments for diseases of the eye.

Since retiring from Novartis in 2023, Jim has continued supporting development of drug therapies through OpharmKin Consulting LLC as founder and principal. Jim is married to Lisa, and they have two grown children and three grandchildren. Jim and Lisa live in The Woodlands and attend WoodsEdge Community Church.

Board Member – Leon Williams

Leon is a native of Alabama and a graduate of The University of Alabama. After moving to Houston in 2010, he found himself selling specialty steel tubing to the oil and gas industry. He has been doing this for the last 12 years. He serves on his neighborhood Board of Trustees as well as the Hospital Liaison on the Board of Directors for the Gulf Coast Oilmen, one of the longest running charities supporting the Shriners Children’s, Texas. He volunteers at his church, First Baptist Conroe, serves as a mentor through the Champions Project of The Woodlands, and works on the maintenance team for Journey Home Texas.

Leon lives very contently with his two dogs in Montgomery, TX and reads a lot.

He volunteers at his church, First Baptist Conroe, serves as a mentor through Operation Achieve Independence, serves as camp counselor for Love Fosters Hope and serves on a team spreading the Gospel to boys in foster care through Restoration Church.

He lives very contently with his THREE dogs in Montgomery, TX and reads when he can.
